A touch of class with Daniel Wellington

Daniel Wellington Review - http://belleblushh.com

Before I get into the crux of this post, can I just say that the last two weeks have been a whirlwind of ups and downs and such an eye opener in terms of where I want to go in life and how I want to grow myself. Last week I spent my time preparing for Eid, spending time with family and friends and realising just how blessed I am to have such people in my life. Then on Sunday I was rushed to hospital for stomach pains. The medication lessened the pain but after recovering from anesthetic after a gastroscope on Tuesday, I developed an infection and pneumonia of the left lung. I’m back at home now and instead of looking at the last couple of days as being a downhill in terms of health, I realised it was just what I needed to step back, stop stressing and just let things be. I try my darndest to please people around me and sometimes it’s at the risk of my own sanity. I had time to reflect and truly appreciate my loved ones as well as receiving amazing get well wishes from tons of readers. I love you guys so much. I also had a chance to put into perspective to where I want to grow my blog. What started as a makeup blog almost two years ago, also features other snippets about beauty but that’s about it. So I’ve decided to expand my blog to include anything and everything I want to write about. I’m not exactly sure what that is yet but I’m starting with today’s post which is a little out of my makeup space.

I’m sure by now most of you have either heard of or seen a Daniel Wellington watch somewhere on social media. It is the most Instagrammed watch and that’s where I first saw it too. A relative received it as a gift from her boyfriend and when I saw it, I thought it was just gorgeous. I don’t wear a lot of jewellery when leaving the house, most days it’s just my wedding ring. The only other watch I own was an anniversary present but I keep it for special occasions since it is quite heavy. When I was younger, I would buy replica watches to wear for every day but the metals would leave behind a greenish-black tint on my skin and give me all sorts of rashes. That’s when I decided to start being more selective of the items that I wore. Another silly thing about me is that while everyone else I know wears their watch on their left hand, I prefer wearing mine on the right. It’s just something I’ve preferred since I was a kid and since I’m right-hand dominant, I needed a watch that was slim and comfortable while being smart and classy at the same time. I hadn’t realized that Daniel Wellington had started shipping internationally because I enquired at one of the local stockists a couple of months back and they were sold out. So when the team over at Daniel Wellington reached out to me a couple of weeks back, I just had to say yes.

They offer free shipping when purchasing a watch from their website. They use UPS to courier the items directly to your door and it took just a week for my package to arrive. That’s the fastest international delivery I’ve ever experienced thus far. In some cases there might be customs charges applicable, anything from R200 to R400 but luckily for me I didn’t have to pay a cent. The watch is well protected in a two-toned leather box, brown on the outside and cream on the inside with the logo embossed on both sides.

The watch I chose was the Dapper Durham 34mm in Rose Gold. The frame is a simple and crisp portrayal of the brand, with elegant Roman Numerals, a pop of deep blue hands for a modern twist and a date display for sophistication. The light brown genuine leather strap in contrast with the rose gold casing is suitable for any occasion, season or outfit. The straps on the Daniel Wellington watches are interchangeable as well and it can be done in the comfort of your own home since they provide you with a special pin that releases the strap. No traipsing off to the mall and paying extra to have that taken care of. The watch itself is made of stainless steel and is water resistant.

I’m looking to buy one of their trendy NATO straps next but I’m undecided as they all look so stylish. I must say I’m leaning towards the Winchester strap (navy edging with pink down the middle) because… Supernatural… Dean Winchester… dreamy… swoon! OK now let me stop I’m going off track here.
