Today I’ll be showing you the remainder of items in my collection and that is the OFRA highlighters and blush triangle. They are by far some of my favourites and you’ll see exactly why. I’m not going to do a long intro because by now you must be familiar with the brand. If you missed out, you can read my previous posts on the OFRA liquid lipsticks, eyeshadow palette and the items I have on my wishlist. Let’s jump right in to it, shall we?
OFRA Beverly Hills Highlighter – R600 ($40*)
These are one of those highlighters that are so perfect, I’m scared to dip into it. It will disturb the 5 wheel pattern and the shades will get smushed together. I plucked up the courage and dove straight in to it. What resulted was a stark white highlight that looked like I had painted a stripe across my cheekbones. OK, let’s try the other side. I swirled my brush closer to the bronze/gold shades and I got this gorgeous luminescence that took my breathe away. Every time I wear it I think of the Rihanna song ‘Shine bright light a diamond’. I absolutely love this highlighter. I can do gold cheekbones, white inner corner highlight and baby pink brow bone without picking up another product. If I swirl my brush lightly across the top and knock the excess powder off the compact, the highlighter looks as though it hasn’t been touched.
OFRA Rodeo Drive Highlighter* – R550 ($35*)
This has been my go to highlighter shade for the past two weeks. It is a gorgeous gold whose embossing looks like the rays of the sun. It suits my skin tone (see here for my foundation shades) so well and gives you the best of both worlds. Dust it lightly and you get a glow from within, healthy shine. Go in harder and you’ll probably have people praising you wherever you go. This highlighter is also harder pressed so you get minimal fallout and less chance of it being disturbed. Fair warning though, the more you apply, the more noticeable pores and uneven skin texture become.
Both the Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive highlighters are soft and buttery to the touch. They pack a punch of pigment so while they are on the pricier side, it it is worth it.
OFRA DupeThat Highlighters – R380 ($25*)
I got both the shades in the collection. You Dew You has a peachy gold undertone while You Glow Girl is more pink toned. When I swatched these, they felt so soft and amazing. I realised just how soft they were only when I got home. They feel almost similar to the ColourPop texture where if you depress it with your finger, it leaves a dent in it. These highlighters also feel like they’re sitting on top of the skin instead of melting in to it. It’s best to go in with a Beauty Blender to press the product in to the skin. While I can’t say these highlighters are bad in any way, they just don’t do it for me. I reach more for the others and it does raise questions as to why they’re cheaper for the same amount of product.
All the OFRA highlighters contain 10g of product which is the same as the MAC Mineralize Skin Finishes. The MAC MSF’s range between R270 and R430 so while they are more affordable, the OFRA Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive highlighters are a must for any makeup lover’s collection.
California Dream Triangle – R450 ($30*)
The contour shade is what drew me to this trio. Whilst I cannot say this is a definite must have, it has found a permanent place in my handbag. The single compact contains a blush, a bronzer and a contour shade. The contour shade is matte and has a soft, silky texture. It blends easily and lasts for hours before fading. The bronzer is quite subtle with tiny golden flecks instead of chunks of glitter. It has a more orange undertone to warm up the face but I think it might be too orange for fairer skin tones. The matte blush is a pretty colour but feels a bit powdery and chalky. It also looks quite ashy when applied and needs to be buffed out to look good. It’s very lightweight and travel friendly and contains a mirror for touch-ups as well.
I’ve resorted to using my OFRA highlighters as eyeshadows on many occasions so they are versatile in that regard. The formula is great and all round pigmented whichever way you use it. You must, must, must buy yourself at least one OFRA highlighter. If you’re fair to medium then get the Beverly Hills highlighter and if you love gold then opt for Rodeo Drive. Trust me you will not regret it.
