Another month has passed by so quickly. We’re well into Spring and although I dread the cold, I somewhat miss the deep, dark shades I pulled off so easily in winter. Just doesn’t feel the same to do it now. I’m loving natural, nude shades at the moment and leaving the bright, bold colours for the summertime. In the meantime, I’ll let you know what I’m loving at the moment…
The Balm Big Mama/Hot Mama Blush (R295)
I’ve been reaching for this blush almost everyday recently. Things have been hectic and I don’t have time to spend more than 5 minutes on my makeup each morning. It is a peach blush with a hint of shimmer and initially I didn’t use it much (check my full review and swatches on The Balm products here) but I stopped procrastinating and decided to just go with it. Needless to say, I’m loving this blush at the moment, it is the perfect shade to give a flush of colour on my olive skin and it lasts a good few hours before fading. Available from Retailbox.
BioNike Defence Color Cover Ultra Coverage Concealer (R120)
I’ve previously used BioNike skincare before but I’ve never tried their makeup. After seeing this undereye corrector featured over at PrettifulBlog I decided to check it out. Just my luck it was the last pot left and boy am I glad. This peach corrector is a lot thinner than the MAC Prep and Prime and Bobbi Brown correctors which I love, but just don’t have time to blend out for everyday use. I apply the BioNike corrector with my fingertips and it melts into my skin within seconds. I can then apply any highlighting concealer without worrying about it looking ashen at all. Available from Dischem.
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (R280)
This is a deluxe sized one I got when I bought the Smashbox ‘Try it Kit’ a few months back. My lashes have been taking a beating with me applying waterproof mascara so often and I’m guilty of not being gentle when trying to get it off, so I decided to try this one out and I love it. It gives my lashes loads of volume making me look wide awake and it comes off super easy with makeup remover wipes. The formula is a bit thicker which I don’t mind for the volume and the dense bristled brush makes application a breeze with no clumping. Available from Edgars, Red Square and Foshini.
MUD (Make-up Designory) Eyeshadow in Cajun Spice (R250)
I got this in a goodie bag when I attended the MUD Sandton store launch in June already. I haven’t reached for it until recently and it’s been my go to shade along with a few ColourPop Supershock eyeshadows (you can see them here). Just a flat brush to spread this over my entire lid and I’m good to go sporting a deep copper with a gorgeous shimmer. Available from BeautyWorx or MUD Sandton.
MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Nice ‘n’ Spicy (R220)
Again another department where I’m being badass boring but with a stunner of a shade at least. MAC Nice n Spicy is a rose-toned nude that lasts for hours on my lips. My lips have been cracking a lot lately and this pencil doesn’t even show it. It’s creamy and doesn’t tug when applied and dries to a soft matte over my entire lips. I noticed it’s a bit similar to Whirl but I prefer the pinkier hue of this one. Available from maccosmetics.co.za or MAC FSS.
Have you tried any of these? Which products have you been loving for September?
