It has been a while since I’ve done a wishlist post since all I’ve been doing lately is adding to cart. The MAC Star Trek collection released online yesterday and I jumped on to their site the minute I opened the email. There was so much I wanted from the MAC Star Trek collection since it’s release overseas, I hoped it wasn’t sold out. I must have been early because all the products were available but I only ended up getting one thing.
The prices of the limited edition items are so expensive now, my jaw dropped to the floor. The lipsticks have increased by R15 which is not a lot if you buying one but it adds up when you’re looking to complete the collection. The powders though were insanely priced. I expected them to be between R280 and R350 since the powder from the last collection, ‘It’s a Strike’, retailed for R270 for 10g. I had my eyes on the 3 Trip the Light Fantastic powders but they were priced at R430 each for the same amount of product (10g). So I ended up just getting the powder in the shade ‘Strange New Worlds’ but I am definitely still adding the other powders and pressed pigments to my wishlist. The pigments I wanted were the shades ‘The Naked Time’ and ‘To Boldly Go’ but at R370 per pop, I think that’s a rip off. They usually retail for less than R300 so I’m thinking perhaps I’m in a time warp, stuck in the past or MAC is going crazy. Here’s a look at the entire collection with pricing if you’re interested to pick anything up.
MAC Star Trek Trip The Light Fantastic Powder – R430
MAC Star Trek Pressed Pigment Eye Shadow – R370
MAC Star Trek Lipstick – R245
MAC Star Trek Lipglass – R245
MAC Star Trek Studio Nail Lacquer- R160
MAC Star Trek Superslick Liquid Eye Liner – R280
MAC Star Trek Lashes – R170
MAC Star Trek Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara – R270
The collection is quite large and I’m glad we had such a variety to choose from. If it weren’t for the exhorbent prices I would have loved to pick more items up.
I’m usually a sucker for packaging and while this collection is more on the ‘normal’ side in terms of containers, the swirls on the lipsticks and powders are to die for. It really is a stellar collection.
The items are an online exclusive and can be purchased from the MAC Cosmetics online store here.
Will you be getting anything from this collection?
