With some of my favourite brands coming out with amazing new highlighters, I’m left feeling overwhelmed and helpless. To choose just one is like asking which finger I prefer and which ones I can do without. “All of them!”, I want to scream. I want them all. But to be realistic, I can’t afford them and my bank account is already crying in pain.
Makeup Geek x Kathleen Lights Highlighter palette
The Makeup Geek x Kathleen Lights Highlighter palette was launched just under a month ago. It comes packaged in the same pattern as the Manny MUA palette I reviewed here but in a more rectangular shape. It contains 3 highlighter shades claiming to suit all skin tones. The colours are on the warmer toned side so that could be very true. The shades are: Nighlight, light gold highlighter, Starlight, rosy-pink highlighter and Sunlight, soft copper highlighter. I like that they all have a play on the word ‘light’ which ties in with the collaboration. The palette does not come with a built in mirror which I guess doesn’t hike up the price unnecessarily.
The Makeup Geek x Kathleen Lights Highlighter palette retails for $39 for 21g of product. That works out to $13 per 7g highlighter which is pretty affordable. The palette is limited edition and will be available for a short time only. You can purchase the palette directly from the Makeup Geek website.
Jouer Cosmetics Highlighters
The Jouer cosmetics highlighters are set to release tomorrow (8th September 2016). There are three shades but they are going to be sold individually. They come packaged in a gold compact with a full sized mirror on the inside. The shades are Citrine, Topaz and Rose Quartz. According to Trendmood, the Jouer highlighters are more intense than the Kathleen Lights Highlighters (see comparison swatches below).
They will each retail for $24 but with the code TRENDMOOD you can get 15% off. This makes it about $20 per highlighter and I’m not sure on the pan size yet. The highlighters will be part of the permanent line and can be purchased off their website here.
So today I’m asking for your help. Would you go for the more affordable one OR for the one with more intensity? Would you choose a trio of 3 shades in a palette OR individual shades of just the ones you like?
Which one would you choose?
