Hope you had a lovely and fruitful weekend. Since Spring hit I’ve been suffering miserably with hayfever and sinuses but also glad the winter cold is behind us. I’m all for sunny days and my dream vacay is lazing on a warm, sandy beach with lots of food and drink. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss Set reminds me exactly of that. With 6 travel-sized glosses, this set is perfect for any handbag or weekend away.
I’ve never been much of a lip gloss girl. Fully opaque, non-sticky lips has always been my preference. But with the newer formulas being produced by thriving brands, their claims seem to have captured me just like the Gerard Cosmetics glosses I reviewed here. Seeing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss Set strewn across social media over the last couple of months, made this another ‘Instagram made me do it’ purchase. One that I’m thrilled with by the way, let me tell you why.
The outer packaging of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss Set did puzzle me at first. The cardboard box holding the glosses does not have a plastic face front allowing dust particles in. The pink cardboard packaging has the info of the glosses as well as the shade names on the back. The individual glosses are housed in clear glass tubes with black lids. Each tube contains 2g of product and the full sized ones contain 4.5g of product. They have a standard doe foot applicator wand which is flat yet still flexible. The shade names are printed at the bottom for ease of reference.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss formula wowed me off the bat. All the shades are fully opaque with just one swipe. They are very comfortable on the lips and do not have that sticky feeling like usual lip glosses do. It feels very similar to the NYX Butter Gloss formula but a little less wet. This is the perfect formula if you have dry lips and don’t want the cracks to be seen whilst having full coverage. The glosses have a very high shine that lasts as long as the glosses are on the lips. They also have a strong vanilla scent that fades after a minute or two.
As with most glosses, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss doesn’t last the entire day. Although it is longer lasting than most formulas. I get about 3-4 hours wear without any eating or drinking but once my lips touch food, it’s practically gone. What I do like though is that all the shades, sans Blushing and Toffee, leave a slight stain on the lips which lasts for hours.
I think the shades in the Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss Set are very versatile and can suit a number of complexions. The lighter colours do not look stark against the lips and all the shades can be worn for any occasion.
- St. Tropez – Iridescent rose gold
- Blushing – Soft pink
- Grape Jelly – Vivid blue purple
- Toffee – Light warm brown
- Caramel – Soft, pinky-brown
- Tango – Crushed berry
My favourite shade is Tango which looks stunning on my tanned, olive complexion. It reminds me of the colour left on the lips after eating a strawberry popsicle.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss Set retails for $28 and I managed to snatch it up from Glamorise Brands for R640. I also got my hands on a second set to give to you so if you haven’t entered my HUGE GIVEAWAY yet, what are you waiting for?
I’m so happy I picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Summer Lip Gloss Set I’m seriously hoping to get my hands on the new Fall set. After trying these glosses from ABH, I really want to get my hands on some of the lipstick shades as well. Any recommendations?
