If something’s too good to be true, it probably is. Not in this case though. The Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer does exactly what it claims to. Tangle Teezer says: Splish. Splash. Splosh. Aqua Splash is the latest innovation from Tangle Teezer, and the first upright, non-slip, water-loving detangling hairbrush. It just loves to dive in and save stranded hair! The hollow design makes for easy, lightweight handling, and the rounded edges allows for smooth, free-flowing detangling.
At first I was unsure because I have long, fine hair that falls out a lot, but I decided to give it a try anyway and I chose the hot pink shade aka ‘Pink Shrimp’ (hilarious I know). The first time I used the Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer in the shower, I noticed about half the amount of hair on the brush than I usually do. Being the skeptic that I am, I thought I might have just been having a good hair day. Three days later when I washed my hair again, even less hair was on the brush. I was elated to say the least. Over time, I’ve learnt how to use the brush’s design to detangle my hair and not cause any breakage.
The Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer, unlike the original, is hollow in the centre which means no water can get trapped in it and it dries very quickly. The tubular design is quite large but still fits comfortably in my hand. It has a rubber base which assists the brush to stand upright and prevent it from sliding around in the shower regardless of what surface you put it on. The spacing and design of the teeth allow tangles to be brushed out painlessly and with snagging. Some teeth are longer so I find I don’t have to brush my hair out in sections either. I’ve tried it on dry hair as well and it works just as great.
Another thing that’s been working great for me, is the fact that it evenly distributes any conditioner or treatment mask I apply to my hair. That paired with massage of the soft bristles of the Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer leaves my hair looking shiny and feeling silky after every wash. I purchased the Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer from Retailbox for R260 ($22). It might sound a bit much for a brush but I think it’s definitely worth it.
Just for interest sake, these are the other tools I’ve tried to brush my wet hair with in the shower. The blue brush I bought at a flea market for R40 a couple of years back. It works similarly to the Tangle Teezer but I only managed to do it in sections. Then I’ve tried numerous sized wide-toothed combs and all it did was snag and break my hair regardless of the method I tried.
Do yourself a favour and go get the Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer if you’ve experienced anything like I have and I promise you won’t be disappointed. I’ve already purchased an Elite Tangle Teezer to use once my hair is dry so when that gets delivered I’ll let you know if it works just as well.
Have you tried the Tangle Teezer yet? Has it worked for you?
LOTS OF LOVE
