I ordered the Gerard Cosmetics Naughty & Nice set while they were having their holiday bundles. I only received a few items but golly, I’ve loved the items I had from the brand before but these new ones are on a whole ‘nother level. I’ve been eyeing these for a while so I just couldn’t resist.
The set I bought contained a mini Slay All Day Setting Spray, a Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick and a Metal-Matte Liquid Lipstick. I’m all about the matte lip and after trying the ColourPop Ultra Metallics, I wanted to compare it as well as add another shade to my collection. The set retailed for $26 and since it’s no longer available, I’ll list the individual prices below.
Slay All Day Mini Setting Spray – $16
Since this featured in one of my wishlist posts way back when, I’ve been lusting after it. I chose the scent peach which I must say is quite strong. The minute you spray it on your face, you get a whack in the face like you’ve been thrown with peaches in the most pleasant way. I love the smell of peaches in makeup, from the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette I reviewed to the Tony Moly Peach Hand Cream I recently posted about. The bottle is quite tiny so the 30ml bottle won’t last very long. I’ve used mine about 5-6 times and it’s already a third empty.
I must say though, I find this to be more of a hydrating mist, similar to MAC Fix+. It adds moisture to the skin and prevents the makeup and powder from looking cakey. It gives the skin a dewy glow but it doesn’t fare well in the heat. I need to still set my makeup using a locking setting spray like the one from Avon to keep it from sliding around. I recently also purchased a few more mini sprays in Lavender, Lemongrass and Green Tea so I’m still testing those ones out. I assume they’ll fare the same and only differ in scent.
The liquid lipsticks are packaged in a sleek, frosted bottle with the logo strewn across the gold lid. The have standard doe foot applicators, nothing special about it, and the shades printed on the bottom.
Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick – $20
One of my favourite Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks is in the shade 1995. I chose to get the same shade since I prefer wearing liquid lipstick. I found it to be lighter in shade when applied but still very flattering to my skin tone. The hydra-mattes are comfortable on the lips, dry completely and transfer-proof unless you’re eating. It is very long wearing and I’d love to add more shades of these to my collection.
Metal-Matte Liquid Lipstick – $20
Ugh the shade Cherry Bomb is just to die for. It’s a bright red that gives me confidence, brightens my complexion and makes my teeth look whiter #winning. The metallic is not too glittery so I can pull it off for work as well. The opacity on these are a bit less impressive but it didn’t cake up when adding multiple layers. They are long wearing around 4-5 hours and also pretty comfortable on the lips. I don’t think I’d purchase any more of these though because the shade selection is meh.
This set was great value for money since the total worth of the products was $56 if purchased individually. It didn’t cost me an arm and a leg and I got to try 3 products. Gerard Cosmetics always has bundle deals and promo codes so don’t buy anything full price from the website, just be patient.
They had previously offered free international shipping on orders $35 upwards but they’ve now increased it to a $100 purchase to qualify for free international shipping. Their new shipping options are quite pricey but it’s still cheaper than buying the items from resellers here. You can purchase Gerard Cosmetics products directly from their website and if you’re signing up for the first time, you can get 10% off your order.
