You know, come to think of it, I’m not 100% sure of what a makeup haul encompasses. At what number of items does it go from just being a purchase to an actual haul. To be specific, I picked up 6 items in my recent order to Gerard Cosmetics and I’m here to show you what I picked up. (Leave me a comment below if you know what number makes up a haul).
A few weeks ago I got one of usual Gerard Cosmetics newsletters and they were having a special on their lipglosses. This was nothing new as Gerard Cosmetics have bundle sales all the time, but it was such a good deal I couldn’t pass it up. The lip glosses usually retail for $24 each which is very expensive in my opinion but I think they up their prices just so that they can have constant deals and people are outwitted to thinking they’ve scored. I’ve always only bought when things have been on special and it’s saved me hundreds of dollars. This time was no different. The sale they had this time was 5 lipglosses for $25. That’s essentially $5 per gloss not factoring in shipping or customs. I figured if the formula of the glosses were crap or not pigmented, I’d be mad as hell even paying so little, but if it was great, I’d finally get to try what some of the YouTubers were raving about.
The verdict, I absolutely love them. They are super pigmented, a little bit thick, a little bit sticky and easy to apply. I did find that the shade Jewel (ruby) did streak a bit upon application but with a second coat it evened out. I wore Borneo (black) the day I got the glosses and it pairs awesomely with a smokey eye for a grungy look. I’ve bought many other black lipsticks but they’re always more on the grey-side. My favourite shade is Pretty Penny which has a metallic copper finish with the nude Cocoa Bean right after. Wild Orchid (bright purple) is definitely a statement colour and I don’t see myself reaching for it that often.
Another thing I like about these glosses are the packaging. They come in the usual rectangular tube with a gold top like many other brands but what sets this apart is the mirror they’ve included on the side and the most innovative LED light in the lid. This makes application or touch-ups on the go a piece of cake even in the dark. (All these food names and analogies is making me more hungry). Two of the lights weren’t working on the glosses but I haven’t attempted to try and fix it just in case I break it completely. If you want to try any of the Gerard Cosmetics lipglosses they are currently having a special where the lipglosses are $10 each. Not bad if you want to get 1 or 2 shades.
Recently, the new line of Gerard Cosmetics Lip Pencils were launched. I featured them in a Wishlist Wednesday post here and I really wanted to try them. I just picked up one shade in Cher which is a rosy mauve that deepens the more I put on. The formula is drier than some of the other lip pencils I own and tugs at the lips when applying but feels comfortable afterwards. It is completely matte and doesn’t transfer much unless I rub really hard. Again totally in love with the gold packaging and I can finally add the regal lip pencil to my makeup bag.
I just realised that I didn’t post about my previous Gerard Cosmetics haul which included some more beautiful lipstick shades and one of their highlighters. I’ll do a post on that with swatches so you can see why I’m so in love with Gerard Cosmetics products. I wear a shade of their lippies at least once a week. But let me just say, if you see a special, get it, I promise it will be worth it.
Have you tried any Gerard Cosmetics products before? What’s your fave?
