Sleek Makeup swatches + Giveaway

Sleek Makeup swatches + Giveaway

Hiya lovelies,

I’m sure each and every one of you is excited to see what my 1st Blogiversary Giveaway is. I am so excited to be able to give back to my readers as I am so appreciative and blessed to have such amazing, loyal followers. Thank you again for all your love and support over the last year and keep reading til the end for the surprise.

Sleek Makeup is one of the first brands I started using last year when I began wearing makeup. I believe they used to be stocked in Foshini but they were discontinued in store and I stumbled across them at a cosmetics store close to where I work. I first purchased their ‘Oh So Special’ eyeshadow palette and was so impressed that I picked up a few more.

The eyeshadows are super pigmented and the shimmer eyeshadows last the entire day. I found I do need to wear an eyeshadow primer for the matte shades to pop but it’s become a habit to prime my lid regardless of which eyeshadow I am going to pack on. The palette I was least impressed with is the ‘Au Naturel’ palette as they are primarily matte shades that are similar to my skin tone so don’t really show up when worn. What I do like about the Sleek eyeshadow palettes is that the black colour ‘Noir’, makes an appearance in three of the four eyeshadow palettes I own. This might seem redundant to some, but for me this means that no matter which palette I’ve thrown in my makeup bag for a weekend away or week long holiday, I always have the option of smoking it up and not having to lug along multiple products. OH YEAH! And can I just say that I have not come across a more black eyeshadow in any of the other countless, sometimes more expensive palettes that I own. The blackest of black that can set any liner, line any waterline without smudging or smoke out any undereye as perfectly as a MAC fluidline.

There is a bit of fallout upon application of the eyeshadows but nothing too hectic. The eyeshadows are smooth, easy to blend and mostly opaque with just one swipe. As you can see from the range of palettes above, the colour selection is ah-ma-zing and can be worn subtly or an in-your-face, vibrant pop of colour. My favourite palette hands down is the ‘Sunset’ palette which has shades that I love wearing on a daily basis, has loads of shimmer and varying tones of gorgeous golds.

Sleek Makeup Blush By 3 Palette

When I saw the shade ‘Guipure’, it immediately reminded me of the NARS Orgasm blush. After viewing comparisons and watching videos, I was convinced it was a dupe. I managed to purchase my own NARS Orgasm blush and did comparison swatches of my own. In my opinion, whilst they are almost identical, the Guipure has more of a pinky undertone whereas Orgasm has a peachy undertone. The blushes are also easily blendable and buildable, but I find they are just too bright for my liking. I prefer more soft, subtle blushes with less orange in them. The times I have worn these blushes they didn’t last very long unless I set them with finishing spray, another habit I’ve acquired of late.

Sleek Makeup Face Contour Kit

If you’ve been following me for a while, I featured this product in one of my haul posts and I mentioned that I would be doing a post on how I use it to contour my face. I honestly do not know what happened, but I just couldn’t get this product to work for me anymore. No matter how slowly and minimally I apply the contour shade, it always leaves me looking too orange and regardless of how much I blend or what brush I use, it always looks muddy. I’ve stuck to more taupe/grey contour shades that seem to work better with my skin tone. The highlight shade is not that bad. It’s easily blendable but not very shimmery and I haven’t reached for it much because I’m all about that JLo glow.
