TV series I loved watching in 2017

TV series I loved watching in 2017

In a bid to share more of what I like with you, I decided to compile a list of TV series I watched over the last year. They’re not all new releases and most of them are still ongoing but I do feel that these are the ones that keep you coming back for more. Due to the nature of my job, I do have some time to catch up on episodes during the day whilst the rest are ones hubby has introduced me to. This is just a list with minimal info so don’t worry, no spoilers ahead!

Crime, Drama, Fantasy
IMDB Rating: 8.2/10

The devil is sick of hell so he decides to come live on earth. He owns a nightclub in LA, is best friends with a demon and spends his time following an LAPD officer around solving cases. I love the dark humour of the series and CSI type crimes are my jam.

Drama, Fantasy, Horror

IMDB Rating: 8.5/10

Dean Winchester. Swoon. Ok apart from that I love all things fantasy and mystical that watching these bad boys save the world is just thrilling.

How to get away with Murder
Crime, Drama, Mystery
IMDB Rating: 8.2/10

Apart from watching Viola Davis take charge and be a brilliant criminal defence professor, she must help her students as they become involved in a twisted murder plot.

Game of Thrones
Action, Adventure, Drama
IMDB Rating: 9.5/10

I won’t lie, the first few episodes are gruelling to get through but once you watch it, you’ll be hooked. Watching kingdoms fight for the Iron Throne between flayings, beheadings and ‘fight til the death’ duels makes for exhilarating TV. Add in some nightwalkers and dragons and you understand why it was given its epic rating.

Comedy, Drama

IMDB Rating: 8.6/10

I’m not really a fan of legal dramas but the intellectual level of this series coupled with humour is fun to watch. Mike and Harvey always go against the norm and do unconventional things to get out of trouble.

Orphan Black
Action, Drama, Sci-Fi
8IMDB Rating: 8.4/10

This is one of those series I’d file under the mind-f*ck category. It’s an endless array of conspiracies based on cloning and the search of one woman’s struggle to find the truth.

13 Reasons Why
Drama, Mystery
IMDB Rating: 8.3/10

After a teenager takes her own life, her classmates receive a series of tapes that implicate each of them in the choice that led up to her suicide. It’s very hard hitting because of the raw truth it exposes and definitely a series every person should watch.

Stranger Things
Drama, Fantasy, Horror
IMDB Rating: 9/10

This is definitely not a series for everyone and I don’t think I would have watched it had I not been bored AF. However, once I did I was hooked and would recommend it for those who love sci-fi horrors.

The Vampire Diaries
Drama, Fantasy, Horror
IMDB Rating: 7.8/10

I binged watched all 8 seasons at once and at times the ‘love triangle’ did get a bit monotonous. After it all, I still haven’t decided whether I’m a Stefan or Damon girl but watching Elena makes you think you can have both. I prefer this over The Originals which is a spinoff series from this.

Pretty Little Liars
Drama, Mystery, Romance
IMDB Rating: 7.6/10

The series follows the lives of four girls whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader. One year later, they receive messages from someone named ‘A’ who threatens to expose their darkest secrets. It is stressful waiting for ‘A’ to be revealed but watching the girls transform and grow makes for heartwarming moments amidst the chaos.

The Big Bang Theory
Comedy, Romance
IMDB Rating: 8.3/10

This is a proper geek/nerd series. It’s fun for everyone to watch but your general knowledge needs to be in top form to catch the subtle references that every episode presents.

2 Broke Girls
IMDB Rating: 6.7/10

I love watching anything with Kat Dennings but her quick, witty and promiscuous quips are hilarious. In some ways, she reminds me of myself, like delivering insults with a smile and having a proper foul mouth, although I wish I could have even half the breast size she has.

Two and a Half Men
Comedy, Romance
IMDB Rating: 7.1/10

I love watching older episodes because this series for me is all about Charlie. His hedonistic lifestyle annoys his brother Alan, who’s a freeloader in his house. His sharp-tongued housemaid, Berta, takes great joy in making fun of the family especially his lazy and food-loving nephew, Jake.

And then these reality shows I’m hooked on thanks to hubby. Although we often watch many series together, these four have become part of our daily routine.

Street Outlaws

The best try to make it into the top 10 street racing list in Oklahoma.

Storage Hunters

The series follows couple, Brandon and Lori, as they bid on storage lockers for a win or a bust.

Container Wars

Basically, Storage Hunters on steroids because you need a whole lot more cash. Bids are done on containers from around the world that could contain designer bags or clothing, bikes and sometimes even cars.

Naked & Afraid

Two strangers are thrown into the wilderness in a desolate location without food and water and need to survive for 21 days.

So that’s my list of series I enjoyed watching. As you can see, I do enjoy the light-hearted stuff when I put my dark side away. I love all things fantasy, especially mystical creatures and folklore. It makes me forget about reality and takes me to a place of wonder where anything is possible. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and comment below what your favourite series are so I can add them to my list.
