Ok so I know the title is a little bit deceiving. How can this be a wishlist if I’m reviewing the item? Well I had the Essence Winter Wonderful post planned last week and it was all ready to be posted today. I had visited many Clicks to find this trend edition but to no avail. Then I went shopping this past weekend and I managed to get a hold of the Essence Winter Wonderful blush. There are quite a number of items in this collection and this gorgeous highlighter is one of them. I was sad to find out that the highlighter is one of the items not available on our shores. I am not sure why but that makes me want it even more. So for now it’s going on my wishlist.
The blush on the other hand, I’ve used every day since I’ve got it so I thought I’d let you know whether it’s a hit or a miss.
The Essence Winter Wonderful blush comes in the standard container expected from Essence. It is a clear and sturdy, see-through compact housing the product. It’s all the about the attention to detail and Essence have wowed in this regard. If you look closely, the stars have snowflakes embossed on them. The pattern of the blush is divided into 3 colours. 1 Extra large pinky-coral star which provides most of the pigment, 2 smaller baby pink stars and the remainder is a satin, gold-ish shade.
The blush formula is quite tricky to work with. I have not found that any of the previous Essence blushes have a lot of fallout as they are hard pressed. The same can not be said for this one. Regardless of how softly I swirl my brush in it, it kicks up a ton of product. That said, the blush is very pigmented. I do have to tap off any excess powder before applying it to the apples of the cheeks. It has a matte finish and is best applied with a blush brush and pressing it into the skin with a Beauty Blender afterwards.
The Essence Winter Wonderful blush lasted around 5-6 hours before fading with a primer but without a setting spray.
At first I thought the blush in the shade ‘Winter Kissed Cheeks’, would be very light and suited to fairer skin tones. Don’t judge it’s just my experiences with Essence thus far. I’m going to eat my words and say this looks great on my complexion . When swirling all the colours together it creates a soft coral shade that gives the perfect flush of colour to the cheeks. Even without foundation it looks very pretty and natural depending on how much I use.
As with all Essence products, the Essence Winter Wonderful blush retails for R58 for 4.5g of product. Quite enough to last a while.
I thought I’d show you the rest of the collection while we’re at it so you can pick up or add to your wishlist, the items that you desire.
All the items are available at selected Clicks stores except for the higlighter, dual-ended eyeshadow brush and the heat pack. We were very late on this bandwagon since the collection was released overseas in December last year.
It is a pretty collection though, don’t you think?
